Ammunition

The United States and it's international partners have been funding the supply of ammunition for the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) throughout this long conflict. Unfortunately, much of the ammunition is 'lost' in the supply chain, is late getting to the units engaged in combat, is stolen and sold to insurgents, or is just simply 'lost'.

The Afghan logistical system has been broke for a very long time and Coalition advisor efforts to fix the supply system have been very frustrating.

Reports about Ammunition for the ANDSF

September 22, 2017. CSTC-A Oversight of Ammunition Provided to Afghanistan National Defense and Security Forces, DODIG-2017-122, by Office of Inspector General, United States Department of Defense. This report found that the Combined Security Tranistion Command - Afghanistan (CSTC-A) did not provide effective oversight of ammunition for the ANDSF. This 32-page report specifically focused on ammunition that was procured by DoD and provided to the ANDSF.
