Functional Area Support Team (FAST)

Resolute Support's Functional Area Support Team (FAST) programme helps to recruit young, educated Afghans for civilian roles performing essential functions within the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) and the security ministries. The intent is to have educated Afghan civilians assist in the building of capacity and sustainability of the ANDSF.

Specific areas where FAST members work are in human resources, procurement, and finance. The hope is that these civilians will help professionalize the organizations, create continuity and stability, and support the sustained functionality and efficiency of the Afghanistan's security sector. The postiions, filled by a merit-based system, are located across Afghanistan - from the ministry's headquarters in Kabul down to the corps level organizations.
