Holloman AFB

There were eight mlitary installations housing Afghan evacuees. Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico was one of them. The Afghan evacuees were kept in a tent and trailer compound named Aman Omid Village.

The last Afghan refugees have departed Holloman Air Force Base in southern New Mexico in late January 2022. Over 7,000 Afghans passed through Aman Omid Village during the Afghan evacuee resettlement process after the Kabul non-combatant evacuation operation of August 2022. The population peaked at 4,500 at one point in time.

November 23, 2021. "Afghan Translators Join the Air Force Reserve, Assist Evacuees", Afghan Report. Two former interpreters who assisted US military forces in Afghanistan came to the United States, joined the Air Force Reserve, and now are at Hollomon Air Force Base assisting in the resettlement of Afghan refugees from the non-combatant evacuation operation of Kabul in August 2021.
