Afghan Evacuees and Canada

Kabul NEO > Countries > Canada

During the Kabul NEO of August 2021 Canada accepted approximately 3,000 Afghan evacuees. Since then they have accepted more Afghan refugees from varying countries. Canada took a significant amount of the Afghans who were airlifted to the United Arab Emirates and housed in the Emirates Humanitarian City. It has also accepted refugees from other European and Middle East countries as well. In the later part of 2022 it had almost weekly flights from Pakistan to Canada of Afghan refugees. As of late 2022 it had accepted almost 25,000 Afghan refugees, with plans to accept up to 40,000 over the next few years.
