Al Udeid Air Base - Lily Pad

The Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar has been used as a 'lily pad' or transit
base by the Department of Defense to house Afghan evacuees on a
temporary basis until they are moved to the United States. The evacuees
are kept in Camp As Sayliyah while they are in Qatar.

History of As Sayliyah Army Base
Camp As Sayliyah was a US Army base located in Al Sailiya, a suburb
outside Doha, Qatar. The U.S. Central Command used the base as a transit
location for material, equipment, and personnel bound to use in
Afghanistan and Iraq. The base was established in 2000 and was closed in
June 2021 with its
mission moved to Area Support Group - Jordan.
