Temporary Protected Status
(TPS) for Afghans
On March 15, 2022, the secretary of the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Temporary Protected
Status (TPS) for Afghans who were evacuated from Afghanistan after the
U.S. military withdrawal, defeat of the Afghan security forces, fall of
the Afghan government, and the non-combatant evacuation operation in
August 2021.
This TPS designation is for 18 months. It may be
renewed in the future. The TPS designation provides certain benefits for
recipients. The documents and reports below will provide more
information.
